During crises, mother-to-mother groups benefit moms and babies

In Yemen, FHI 360 supports infant and young child nutrition outcomes through mother-to-mother support groups, where mothers learn about breastfeeding, complementary feeding, prenatal care, vaccines and hygiene.
A lead mother demonstrates how to express breast milk during a session. “All humanitarian agencies have the opportunity to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and complementary feeding during emergencies to help prevent mortality and morbidity,” says Alessandro Iellamo, senior emergency nutrition adviser for FHI 360.
