Climate change is one of the greatest threats of our time, and education is critical to addressing this threat. Studies of secondary school students show a correlation between climate change education and a reduction in carbon dioxide.
FHI 360 provides research-based, equity-centered solutions to strengthen climate change education and equip young people — especially those from communities hardest hit by climate change — with the knowledge and skills they need to build a sustainable, resilient future for everyone.
FHI 360 makes four recommendations for policy makers, administrators and educators:
- Enact policies to support climate change education at national, state, district and school levels.
- Provide access to high-quality curricula and materials that are grounded in scientific evidence.
- Support educators with training and professional development.
- Scale up out-of-school and work-based learning models.
