Based on best practices and the experience of clinical trial experts and community-based advocates, this unique resource helps research teams deepen their relationships with allies, measure stakeholder engagement and address community concerns. The toolkit includes short case studies from Tanzania, Uganda and the United States and offers concrete tools to guide and chart stakeholder engagement throughout the progress of a trial.

The Toolkit Quick Guide helps navigate the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit for HIV Prevention Trials. The guide was 
based on feedback from community liaison officers, community educators and others working in community outreach in research settings. It gives users quick and easy access to modifiable (Microsoft Word or Excel) tools and instructions for using them. This resource also includes expanded instructions for three key stakeholder engagement tasks: developing measures to track stakeholder engagement program progress, developing and maintaining a stakeholder databank, and assessing knowledge and skills to determine how to build capabilities.

Limited print copies of the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit for HIV Prevention Trials are available by request and include a CD with the quick guide and additional stakeholder engagement resources, such as the Communications Handbook for Clinical Trials and Partnering for Care in HIV Prevention Trials: A How-To Manual.
2014 TOOLKIT TRAINING RESOURCES
Resources to support face-to-face group training events are available to help community liaison officers, community educators and others working in community outreach learn and practice selected stakeholder engagement tasks.
The resources include a session plan (which contain instructions for how to use the training materials), PowerPoint presentations and collateral materials for conducting the activities. The learning objectives focus on selected tasks from Step 4 and Step 7 of the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit for HIV Prevention Trials.
The resources also include a detailed overview of the toolkit designed to orient new toolkit users.
