Scott Wu has spent more than three decades combining his finance and innovation skills with a passion for global humanitarian endeavors. As chief executive officer (CEO) of the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBank), he leads a public finance institution committed to improving quality of life for all Californians — prioritizing jobs, disadvantaged communities, and climate solutions.
Before his appointment in 2019 by Governor Gavin Newsom, Wu spent many years leading teams focused on financing beneficial and innovative solutions to large-scale public sector issues. He was a partner and head of investments for the Omidyar Network, a global pioneer in impact investing; a member of the founding team at Upstart.com, an online lending marketplace; and a co-founder of several innovative investment firms, including FTV Capital.
In 2013 he was selected to serve as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, advising USAID on its innovation investing activities throughout the developing world.
Wu has a longstanding interest in issues addressing education and global poverty. He serves as a board advisor for the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact and was a long-serving director and chair of both the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) and the Aim High summer school network for disadvantaged students. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
