From the earliest years of the HIV epidemic, FHI 360 has partnered with funders, the public sector and nongovernmental organizations to introduce comprehensive HIV treatment programs around the world. Through our work, we improve access to —and the standards of — HIV care and treatment for all populations.
We offer person-centered approaches to link people who test positive for HIV with optimal antiretroviral therapy (ART) at health facilities or in the community. For people on treatment, we provide individualized case management to support adherence and help clients become virally suppressed. FHI 360 is also leading the way in diagnosing and managing people living with advanced HIV disease.
To promote lasting HIV services as well as locally led development, FHI 360 builds the capacity of ministries of health, civil society and local organizations and primary care health centers to deliver quality HIV services.

Ensuring continuation of treatment and viral load monitoring
To help people achieve and sustain HIV viral suppression, FHI 360 uses innovative approaches to help them stay on their ART, even during times of crisis.
For example, for more than 10 years we have employed decentralized drug distribution, allowing clients to pick up their ART at convenient locations. To further reduce time and travel burdens on clients, our programs dispense multiple months of ART at a time as appropriate.
Our programs also use differentiated approaches and targeted strategies to improve HIV viral load testing coverage, including partnerships with the private sector. This helps detect if a client is not taking their ART, and then we help address the causes.
