FHI 360 will participate in the 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026), which will be hosted in-person at the Riocentro Convention & Event Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 26–31, 2026, and convened by the International AIDS Society (IAS). This global conference brings together researchers, policymakers, implementers, and community leaders to share the latest evidence and advance collaborative action in the global HIV response.
Across pre-conference programming, workshops, oral and poster presentations, and booth talks, FHI 360 experts and partners will share programmatic and research insights from around the world. These sessions will explore strategies to sustain epidemic control, advance HIV prevention and care, strengthen data systems, support local ownership, and translate innovation into impact. Together with governments, communities, funders and partners, FHI 360 is committed to creating solutions that are built to last.
Agenda
Pre-conference

Transforming Health Assistance: Implementing U.S. Government Bilateral MOUs for Sustainable HIV Programs
Organizers: U.S. Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy; Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project
Description: In alignment with the America First Global Health Strategy, the U.S. government is finalizing new bilateral memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and implementation plans with partner countries. These agreements mark a pivotal shift toward country ownership, sustainability, and more efficient use of resources as countries accelerate progress toward self-reliance in their HIV responses. This half-day pre-conference session will examine the status of the MOUs and implementation plans, followed by a discussion with Ministries of Health, implementing partners, and other stakeholders. The conversation will identify critical enablers, risks, and practical considerations for sustaining impact, strengthening integration, and advancing a clear, actionable path toward country‑led health programming.
WORKSHOP
Tuesday, July 28
Where Stigma Ends, Care Begins
Co-Organizers: International AIDS Society (IAS); FHI 360; Gestos (Brazil)
Description: This interactive workshop will explore how stigma continues to shape HIV prevention and care in Brazil and highlight practical solutions from communities and frontline providers. Through live polling, mixed-group discussions and a panel featuring Healthcare Champions and their clients, participants will examine what builds or breaks trust, the behaviours that create stigma-free care and the systemic barriers that must be addressed. Champions will share real examples from pharmacies, community-led services and decentralized prevention models. The session will conclude with key insights and a call to replicate person-centred practices across varied HIV service settings.
