FHI 360 is supporting young Mauritanians to promote prosocial alternatives to violent extremism. Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by FHI 360, the Tamkeen project aims to develop enduring regional networks of community organizations that include women and young people, especially those at risk of violent extremism; create a platform for young people to learn facilitation, leadership and soft skills; and reduce vulnerability to violent extremism, which intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through Tamkeen, we are centering Mauritanians’ voices and experiences to promote civic engagement, improve social cohesion and strengthen resilience.
