DURHAM, N.C. — FHI 360 has named Annette N. Brown, PhD, to the newly created position of chief strategy and evidence officer. She will continue to oversee the organization’s strategy, innovation and evidence office, which leads strategy development and supports FHI 360 as a data-driven learning organization.
“As displacement, impoverishment and conflict increase around the world and resources become scarcer, it’s critical that cause-driven organizations be as efficient and effective as possible,” says Dr. Tessie San Martin, FHI 360’s CEO. “Annette brings a rigorous focus on evidence-based solutions and locally led development that is essential to expanding our organizational measurement, innovation and learning.”
Brown joined FHI 360 in 2016. She led the development of its current three-year strategy and facilitated the launch of its principles of locally led development. She previously headed the Washington, D.C., office of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie).
“As the world faces increasingly volatile and complex challenges, we must engage local leaders to develop innovative solutions that work for them,” Brown says. “FHI 360’s strategy is rooted in a culture of using evidence and learning to achieve the greatest possible impact.”
A graduate of Grinnell College, Brown was a National Science Foundation fellow at the University of Michigan, where she received master’s degrees in economics and in Russian and East European studies and a doctorate in economics.
