FHI 360 is deeply committed to ensuring high-quality, equitable STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning, especially for those who have been historically left out of these academic and career areas. We promote research, practice, and resources that build young people’s engagement in STEM and foster their own development of a positive STEM identity and agency.
FHI 360 works to expand STEM in underserved communities and level the playing field through these core activities:
- Developing research-based curricula for afterschool and other informal settings
- Conducting research and evaluation on STEM equity, engagement and identity
- Working with private sector, schools, districts and other local partners to develop customized models
- Implementing programs that provide students with real-world experiences
- Providing training and support to corporate employees to enhance skills-based volunteering and career mentoring
