Pfizer Global Health Fellows and FHI 360 partner for impact

For more than 15 years, FHI 360 has collaborated with Pfizer Inc. on its Global Health Fellows program, which sends Pfizer employees to work together with partner organizations around the world to address community-specific health needs and strengthen health systems. The fellows bring diverse backgrounds – such as market analytics, supply chain and business expertise – and collaborate with project teams for several months to share their skills and drive local change.

This strategic partnership is part of FHI 360’s growing work that supports corporate partners’ employee engagement goals. Former fellows assigned to FHI 360 include a senior director of commercial operations, who supported the analysis of service delivery models for an integrated health project in Tanzania, and a communications manager, who designed and implemented communications strategies for HIV prevention campaigns in Vietnam.

Recently, Caroline Roan, Vice President of Global Health and Patient Access, Pfizer and President of the Pfizer Foundation, sat down in Dar es Salaam with Julie Goodwin, FHI 360’s 2019 Pfizer Fellow, and Prisca Rwezahura, Communications Director of the Tulonge Afya project, to discuss the fellowship program’s impact in Tanzania. Tulonge Afya means “Let’s talk about health” in Kiswahili. Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the project promotes social and behavior change among youth and women around HIV and AIDS; family planning and reproductive health; maternal, neonatal and child health; malaria; and tuberculosis.

Watch the interview to learn more about the power of fostering global partnerships.
