October 2022 — This brief describes how the Passerelles project works to create safe and supportive learning environments and reduce school-related gender-based violence in southern Senegal. The project’s interventions, which were implemented in community schools, bridging classes (“Classes Passerelles”) and formal lower secondary schools, focus on addressing the gender-based barriers that prevent out-of-school children and adolescents — especially girls — from going to school.
