October 2007 – This Life Skills Education Toolkit for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in India presents activities, modules and guides intended to help children and adolescents develop essential life skills to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections and HIV, manage HIV/AIDS, and identify and cope with difficult circumstances, including care and loss. The toolkit uses active learning methods including games, role plays, debates, brainstorming, drama, storytelling, group learning, case studies and poster making.
With funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), under the Implementing AIDS Prevention and Care (IMPACT) and YouthNet projects, FHI 360 partnered with 37 local nongovernmental organizations to reach 50,000 orphans and vulnerable children in India with HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support activities. All the partners were involved the toolkit development and field test before publication.
