2000 — Rigorous monitoring and evaluation of adolescent health programs is essential to improve understanding of successful interventions, what they cost, and how to replicate and sustain them. Such evaluations are necessary in order to move from isolated pilot projects to comprehensive, effective and sustainable programs that actually change reproductive health behaviors and, ultimately, reduce unwanted and mistimed pregnancies and prevent HIV and STIs among young people.
YouthNet is committed to monitoring its programs and to providing technical leadership in program evaluation to new and ongoing projects and interventions on adolescent health. Many resources already exist that provide program planners with information about how to conduct monitoring and evaluation.
As part of its mission to institutionalize such approaches, YouthNet also shares case studies of evaluations of reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention programs targeting young people.
