2012 — Produced under the Balasahyoga project, this handbook shares FHI 360’s experience with the family case management approach, which considers the family as a unit of intervention and does not treat the child in isolation. It details roles and responsibilities of family case managers in providing need-based support in five domains of care — health, psychosocial, nutrition, food security and education. The handbook clarifies the processes involved in community mobilization to ensure active support to the families. Further, it explains simple steps in prioritizing households and establishing a robust referral system to enable HIV-affected families to access various services and benefits. The handbook can be used as a personal guide by family case managers and outreach workers or as a resource for collaborative learning on this family-based approach.
