This publication details the work done through the secondment of an HIV testing services FHI 360 technical advisor, Maserame Mojapele, to South Africa’s National Department of Health (NDOH) to support the Rapid Test Quality Improvement Initiative (RTQII). RTQII built the capacity of testing providers to ensure that clients received the correct HIV test results and those facilities and personnel provided quality services. The NDOH provided training to strengthen quality management systems, increase uptake and coverage, and contribute to achievement of the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets. Mojapele supported 11 RTQII trainings with 372 participants between October 2016 and June 2017. The three-day training sessions were conducted in eight provinces, covering 29 districts. Participants included clinic and laboratory personnel, HIV testing service counselors, managers and mentors.
