May 2015 — FHI 360 conducted a rapid assessment in 14 camps for internally displace persons in Borno State, Nigeria, to identify needs for HIV/AIDS services. The results of the assessment showed that there are more than 92,000 displaced persons in the camp. Numerous organizations provide services such as shelter, educational services, psychosocial services, health services, and food and protection. But, none of the camps had programs for HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns, refills of antiretroviral treatments, continuous HIV counseling and testing, or the identification of new patients. In addition, the assessment showed that referrals for HIV/AIDS services are weak and did not have good documentation.
