The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program expands access to high-quality online professional development and educational resources so more non-native English-speaking professionals can teach English and train others to teach English. The program also fosters cultural understanding between Americans and citizens of other countries. OPEN’s online courses reach over 200,000 learners each year from more than 180 countries and continues to engage program alumni through follow-on training programs for Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) facilitators and community leads for OPEN’s 8,000-member alumni community of practice.
To reach educators and learners, FHI 360’s technical experts work closely with U.S. institutions of higher education and internationally recognized experts in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) to produce social media content, webinars, online courses and other openly licensed materials. These resources provide access to the most current, evidence-based approaches in TESOL and can be freely shared, reused and adapted for different teaching and learning contexts.
OPEN furthers FHI 360’s commitment to working with international educators and university partners to promote English-language skills acquisition through online programs — putting opportunity within reach for more educators and learners around the world.
