The Network of Associations for Harm Reduction (NAHR) project is a coalition of civil society organizations and stakeholders dedicated to harm reduction in Egypt. Coalition members share the goal of reducing stigma, promoting behavior change and expanding the harm reduction services available to most-at-risk populations (including injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, female sex workers and people living with HIV). NAHR aims to unify, strengthen and sustain harm reduction and HIV prevention across the country.
The project has three specific objectives:
- Establish NAHR as the coordinating body for all harm reduction projects in Egypt
- Strengthen the capacity of and enhance collaboration among civil society organizations to carry out harm reduction activities through the establishment of a training center to provide capacity building services and other activities
- Reduce stigma and discrimination among most-at-risk populations and people living with HIV through advocacy
NAHR envisions a healthier society where all individuals have equal access to harm reduction services through a solid, sustainable network that ensures standardized high-quality and stigma-free services for most-at-risk populations and related communities. FHI 360 serves as the primary implementing organization for NAHR.
