The humanitarian situation remains critical in northeast Nigeria, with an estimated 8.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and more than 1.9 million internally displaced persons from nearly 365,000 households.
FHI 360’s Integrated Humanitarian Assistance to Northeast Nigeria III (IHANN III) project is continuing the work of the previous IHANN I and II projects in providing a multisector humanitarian response in Borno State to reduce morbidity and mortality and improve the well-being of conflict-affected and displaced Nigerians. The project, which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance, is working with 346,319 internally displaced persons.
IHANN III supports the well-being of internally displaced families and host communities by ensuring access to quality services, including:
- Primary health care, reproductive health and health outreach services
- Psychosocial support services and integrated gender-based violence and child protection support
- Clean and safe water, improved sanitation facilities and improved hygiene practices
- Management of activities to improve acute malnutrition and infant and young child feeding in emergencies for pregnant and lactating women and children under age 5
Our work is a fully integrated package of interventions that will provide comprehensive support, thereby reducing the risks of death and illness and improving the health and safety of displaced individuals in Borno State.
