Susan Yashar served as Deloitte Global’s deputy chief executive officer and general counsel, leading Deloitte professionals across the globe in risk, legal and ethics matters. Among other things, she oversaw major risk, legal, brand, regulatory and governance matters affecting Deloitte worldwide. She was named global general counsel in 2014 and global deputy chief executive officer in 2020; she also served as global chief risk officer from 2020 to 2021.
Prior to joining Deloitte in 2008, Yashar worked at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as associate general counsel for enforcement and international, serving as strategic counsel on a range of international matters centered on engendering trust in audit quality and driving international cooperation.
At the Securities and Exchange Commission, where she worked from 1991 to 2007, Yashar held a variety of positions, including assistant director of the Office of International Affairs and branch chief within the Division of Enforcement. She was instrumental in transforming international enforcement cooperation, ensuring greater and more effective cooperation among global counterparts.
She began her law career as a litigator in private practice, first working in commercial and environmental litigation at Bogle & Gates in Seattle, Washington, before joining Ross, Dixon & Masback in Washington, D.C., where she focused on complex insurance and commercial litigation. Yashar also serves as a director on the Edward Jones Advisory Board, Advanced Bifurcation Systems Board, International Youth Foundation Board and the Boston University Law School Advsory Board.
Yashar holds a law degree from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
She joined the FHI 360 board of directors in October 2022.
