DURHAM, N.C. – FHI 360 today announced a reduction of its workforce that will impact 483 U.S.-based staff members, including 144 in the organization’s home state of North Carolina, which will take effect May 2, 2025. This comes after the U.S. government’s reduction of federal funding and termination of projects. More than 700 FHI 360 staff members in other countries around the world have also been affected to date.
“Having to part ways with so many talented staff who have dedicated themselves to advancing FHI 360’s mission is incredibly painful,” said FHI 360 CEO Dr. Tessie San Martin. “We have had to take these difficult actions to ensure FHI 360 remains positioned to continue delivering evidence-based solutions to global challenges and creating measurable impact.”
The organization had previously furloughed many U.S.-based staff in the hopes that funding for their lifesaving work would resume. FHI 360 is committed to supporting staff through this transition.
