Virtual Event #1: How Has COVID-19 and the Response Exacerbated Gender Inequality and Social Exclusion?
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the in-person Gender 360 Summit in Washington, DC, will not take place on June 9, 2020. Instead, we will have a series of virtual Gender 360 Summit events in 2020.
The kick-off event — How Has COVID-19 and the Response Exacerbated Gender Inequality and Social Exclusion? — will be led by FHI 360 and co-hosted by Encompass LLC, Chemonics, Counterpart, Cultural Practice LLC, IESC, MenEngage Alliance, Pact, Save the Children, and Women for Women International.
The virtual event will feature a global panel of experts who will use an intersectional lens to discuss how people with different identities and facing multiple layers of marginalization are mitigating the challenges and opportunities of COVID-19. Panelists will examine gender-based violence/domestic violence and safeguarding, economic empowerment and the burden of care, access to sexual and reproductive health services, and educational access to marginalized children and young people, including those with disabilities.
