Plastic pollution is a serious environmental concern that threatens human health at a global scale. Working to mitigate this threat are informal waste workers who are recycling and reusing materials that would otherwise end up in the environment. These waste workers have gone unrecognized and instead face numerous health disparities and social inequalities.
FHI 360 and SecondMuse, in collaboration with GIZ, raised awareness of this issue and explored solutions to fix it during a session called “Towards a ‘Greener Future Scenario’: Pollution and Health — Perspectives from Frontline Workers” at the 2023 Prince Mahidol Award Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
