It’s a common dilemma that parents face: Should we expose young children to potentially “mind-numbing” screen time, whether it is a tablet or phone? Is this harmful to brain growth and the development of cognitive skills?
According to FHI 360’s Jacqueline Hess, Director of Disability Studies and Services & Early Care and Education, it is precisely during the early years when these technologies can aid in brain development, help identify developmental delays and close development gaps.
On November 29, 2016, thought leaders in early childhood development and assistive technology will gather in Washington, DC, for a symposium, Technology Solutions for Early Childhood, hosted by the Center on Technology and Disability. Participants will learn about evidence-based practices, current research and ways in which families and teachers are successfully using technology to support children’s developmental and learning needs.
