2012 — This monograph shares FHI 360’s work and lessons learned in the Strengthen Abilities to Manage and Respond Effectively to HIV and AIDS in India (SAMARTH) technical assistance project. It describes FHI 360’s experience with building the capacity of the National AIDS Control Organization, State AIDS Control Societies and civil society organizations; designing and rolling out the Children Affected by HIV/AIDS Pilot Scheme; scaling up and strengthening targeted intervention programs for groups at high risk of HIV infection in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand; and supporting the national program with strategic information, especially by conducting research and evaluation studies and national information, education and communication campaigns. This publication provides useful guidance for individuals and organizations in designing, implementing or reviewing a health technical assistance project.
