May 2023 — The Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) | West (Act | West) program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), supports the control and elimination of NTDs in Benin. Mass drug administration (MDA) for the control and elimination of preventive chemotherapy NTDs has been routinely implemented in endemic districts since 2013. This technical brief describes the seven components of the MDA quality improvement (QI) process applied to three districts (Ouinhi, Zagnanado and Zakpota) and initiated in 2020, when the districts failed the transmission assessment survey for lymphatic filariasis. The brief also shares the results of the QI activities before and during the November 2021 MDA campaign for onchocerciasis.
