September 2012 — The dramatic expansion of HIV prevention and treatment services has significantly reduced the incidence of HIV among children and improved maternal health. These achievements contribute directly to the health-related and gender-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 3, 4, 5 and 6. Stronger efforts to address the family planning rights and needs of women living with HIV are required to reduce pediatric HIV and keep mothers alive and healthy.
