July 2015 — This report, prepared for the Government of Vietnam, details the first economic evaluation comparing the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the two dominant drug dependence treatment approaches in Vietnam: compulsory center-based rehabilitation (CCT) and voluntary community-based methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) in Hai Phong City, Vietnam. Study findings showed that MMT is both more effective and less costly than CCT across a range of outcomes.
