Laura Kayser, who has held several senior management positions since joining FHI 360 in 2002, possesses a comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s country programs and infrastructure. In her day-to-day work, Kayser emphasizes organizational results, systems improvement and business development.
Kayser is an accomplished public health and development leader with more than 30 years of domestic and international experience. A registered nurse by training, she spent nearly six years working on the front lines of the early fight against HIV and AIDS with the New York City Department of Health and the New York State AIDS Institute. Kayser spent 10 years in Estonia managing the health portfolio of the American International Health Alliance, which operated in eight countries in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. She has served in the Peace Corps in Côte d’Ivoire and Zaire (now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo) and has worked in Croatia.
Kayser has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Boston College and a joint master’s degree in public health and international affairs from Columbia University. She also received a certificate in public health, family planning, nutrition and primary health care for Africa from Columbia University and prior to that was certified as an emergency medical technician.
