Dr. Juliana Soares Linn directs the Infectious Diseases Department within the FHI 360 Global Health and Population practice. In her role as director, Soares Linn oversees a global portfolio that includes emerging infectious diseases and health security, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, and COVID-19 response.
Soares Linn brings a blend of leadership experience and clinical expertise to FHI 360, with a track record of planning and implementing large scale, evidence-based health programs globally. A leader with over 17 years of experience, she came to FHI 360 from ICAP at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. There, she served as the deputy director for the Clinical and Training Unit for many years, providing strategic and technical guidance to country teams, stakeholders and governments. Soares Linn blends technical expertise with robust project management abilities. She has successfully led the implementation of programs to address the most pressing global health threats in Central and South America, Western, Eastern and Southern Africa, and Central and Southeast Asia. Early in her career, Soares Linn spent five years in Mozambique supporting the first efforts to scale-up life-saving antiretroviral therapy for children and adults.
She received her medical degree from the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil, followed by an infectious disease fellowship at ICAP at Columbia University in Mozambique, and an internal medicine specialty from the Federal University of Espirito Santo in Brazil. She has also earned an MSc in infectious diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and an MPH in epidemiology from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Prior to her medical training, Soares Linn studied linguistics at UNICAMP Brazil, where she developed a lifelong love for languages that has served her well in her professional career. She is fluent in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
