Accreditation builds on FHI 360’s decades of experience strengthening health systems and responding to global health threats
Durham, N.C. — The Pandemic Fund has accredited FHI 360 as an Implementing Entity, expanding FHI 360’s ability to support countries’ priorities for strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
As an Implementing Entity (IE), FHI 360 is eligible to receive, manage, and deploy Pandemic Fund financing to support the implementation of projects for which it is selected as an IE, complementing its existing technical and implementation capabilities. FHI 360 joins the World Bank Group, World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Global Fund, and Gavi, which are among the 16 existing IEs accredited to serve in this role.
For decades, FHI 360 has worked alongside governments, foundations, multilateral institutions and communities to strengthen health systems and prepare for and respond to disease outbreaks. FHI 360 brings technical expertise in disease surveillance, laboratory systems and health workforce strengthening, as well as experience managing complex global health programs, overseeing funding and supporting implementation with countries and partners.
“This accreditation is an important milestone for FHI 360. Becoming an Implementing Entity of the Pandemic Fund gives us more ways to put our global health experience and expertise to work,” said Tony Bondurant, Senior Vice President, Global Operations and Services, FHI 360. “We can bring together our technical capabilities and partnerships with our ability to leverage financing to help countries strengthen health systems and better prepare for future health threats.”
“Strong pandemic preparedness starts with country leadership, but no country can do it alone. Strong partnerships are essential to translate ambition into impact at scale,” said Priya Basu, Executive Head of the Pandemic Fund. “The Pandemic Fund brings financing, expertise, and partners together behind country and regional priorities. We are pleased to welcome FHI 360 as an Implementing Entity and look forward to this new partnership helping countries turn their priorities into stronger, more sustainable preparedness capacities.”
In its role as an Implementing Entity, FHI 360 will also participate as an observer at the Pandemic Fund’s Governing Board meetings, connecting the organization more closely with the Fund’s strategic priorities and global partners working to strengthen pandemic preparedness.

About the Pandemic Fund
The Pandemic Fund is a first-of-its-kind multilateral financing mechanism dedicated exclusively to strengthening critical pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPR) capacities of low- and middle-income countries through investments at the national, regional, and global levels. The Fund provides a dedicated stream of additional, long-term financing for investments in areas such as infectious diseases surveillance, laboratories and diagnostics, and health workforce strengthening. Under its first three funding rounds, the Pandemic Fund is supporting 128 countries across six regions through 67 projects. Of these, 91 countries are accelerating investments in national and cross-border capacities for PPR, and six regional entities are bolstering regional PPR capacities that together reach 85 countries. These projects are country-driven, aligned with national and regional priorities. They take a disease-agnostic approach and promote collaboration across sectors, borders, and partners—including civil society— through a One Health approach.
