We live in an age of information that has the potential to equalize knowledge, opportunity and social participation. Nowhere is this more crucial than in helping citizens understand their governments and communities and in enabling governments to better reach and inform their citizens.
FHI 360 works with national and local partners to create programs that use technology to connect people with up-to-date information about their government. In Rwanda, for example, our experts designed a way to use mobile technology to register voters.
In Peru we develop computer kiosks and place them in municipal buildings. Citizens can access these computers for information on government-related programs in three of Peru’s languages. Also in Peru, our virtual platform helps train municipal officials to develop electronic government systems and websites, extending the information network down to the community and individual levels.
