FHI 360 looks forward to attending the 2024 Global Health Security (GHS) Conference. We have worked on outbreak and pandemic response in more than 50 predominantly low- and middle-income countries, connecting our deep technical expertise and strong network of global partners. Our work covers the entire span of action packages outlined in the Global Health Security Agenda. 

In our global health security work, we prioritize locally led development and local decision-making. By partnering with local entities to develop solutions that are specific to the context in which they are delivered, FHI 360 helps ensure the greatest long-term impact on a community’s ability to prevent, detect and respond to disease outbreaks. 

We also help to sustain lifesaving health services during and after a crisis by delivering emergency response services, drawing on our decades of experience in humanitarian work.

Beyond Boundaries: Navigating the Future of Global Health Security and Building a Safe and Secure World

In this hands-on skills-building workshop, FHI 360’s Emerging Infectious Diseases and Health Security (EIDHS) team will train policymakers, funders and stakeholders on comprehensively assessing critical gaps in diagnostic networks for infectious disease threats and on developing actionable recommendations to effectively address those gaps. Using an approach that integrates assessments at the national and facility levels coupled with advanced geospatial analyses, our team will guide participants to develop optimization models for enhancing access to and optimal use of diagnostic capacities.

In this session, FHI 360’s EpiC (Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control) global health security team will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic affected health care delivery to people in low- and middle-income countries and how countries with more robust laboratory networks, more effective surveillance, sufficient numbers of trained health workers, and stronger primary health care systems were in a better position to mitigate the impact of the pandemic. The team will convey the importance of investment in global health security and health systems strengthening for preparing for future infectious disease outbreaks.
