Since the mid-2000’s, FHI 360 has been addressing health and education challenges facing communities across Djibouti. In the past, we have worked with local populations to extend HIV prevention, counseling and treatment services to communities along the transport corridors connecting Djibouti and Ethiopia.
More recently, to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 and promote health practices, FHI 360 has worked with the Ministry of Health and communities in Djibouti to extend prevention measures and promote vaccination.
FHI 360 collaborates with the Ministry of Education and the U.S. Agency for International Development in Djibouti to improve primary education by strengthening the country’s education systems and policies. We support the ministry in developing an education management and information system and in building the capacity of the ministry to monitor school performance, provide teacher training, revise the reading curriculum, provide teaching and learning materials, and build the capacity of parent teacher associations to conduct after-school reading programs for children.
