Since 2019, FHI 360 has supported Chad’s civil society actors in building a more peaceful society by addressing the numerous challenges sparked by political instability, armed conflict, poverty and rising violent extremism, which have left the country’s citizens increasingly disengaged from civil society. We are working to increase civic participation, overcome barriers to democratic governance, and advance local priorities.
Leading the Chad Civil Society Strengthening Activity, FHI 360 strategically partners with the government of Chad and Chadian civil society organizations to strengthen their capacity to support and promote citizen participation in local and national governance, improve collaboration between civil society and government, and further increase Chadians’ awareness of their civic rights and responsibilities. The activity especially works to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations focused on women and young people.
