Human trafficking — compelling a person into sexual or other labor by force, fraud or coercion within or across national borders — is a complex socioeconomic human rights challenge affecting many countries worldwide. To effectively combat human trafficking, governments, nongovernmental organizations and citizens around the world must cooperate with one another.
For more than a decade, experts at FHI 360 have been addressing human trafficking by raising awareness of the issue by improving policies and laws to protect women, men and children from trafficking and by strengthening transnational anti-trafficking networks and organizations. We have also published articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited books on human trafficking, contributing to the global knowledge base on the issue.
