The Online Professional English Network (OPEN), funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, improves English-language skills acquisition by English language learners, English as a foreign language educators and other professionals around the world. The program also fosters cultural understanding between American citizens and those of other countries.
FHI 360’s technical experts work closely with U.S. institutions of higher education and internationally recognized experts in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) to develop virtual learning tools. These tools include online courses and webinars that provide access to the most current, evidence-based approaches in TESOL work. An unlimited number of learners may access content offered as massive open online courses. All resources developed for the program are available as open educational resources that can be freely shared, reused and adapted for different teaching and learning contexts.
This program furthers FHI 360’s commitment to working with international educators and university partners to promote English-language skills acquisition and online programming.
