Condom promotion increases condom use, which helps prevent the spread of STDs.

AIDS prevention campaigns distribute condoms widely, often through marketing programs. Such programs have produced dramatic increases in sales of condoms in some countries, as shown in this slide. In Ethiopia, for example, annual sales of condoms rose four-fold, from fewer than 5 million to more than 20 million, between 1991 and 1996. In Brazil and Vietnam, sales increased even more.
