The combined goals of screening and counseling are to provide
high quality care that enables the client to make a well-informed
choice of a contraceptive method that is safe for her to use.
Client screening procedures are necessary to identify the most
appropriate methods for the client and ensure safe use of the
method. Also, research has shown that, in general, appropriate
counseling leads to improved client satisfaction and continued
use of any contraceptive method.
