This resource offers practical considerations and actions for HIV programs to mitigate the impact of polycrises (that is, interconnected global crises) on their work and the key populations they serve. The document describes types of polycrises — including climate shocks, violent conflict and anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation — and their effects on delivering HIV services. It then outlines strategies to help HIV programs ensure that key populations have access to HIV prevention, care and treatment services, as well as wraparound services. The strategies can also help HIV programs protect strategic information systems.
Developed for HIV programs implemented or supported by FHI 360 in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, this resource may be used and adapted more broadly to help build more resilient HIV programs. This resource will be updated frequently to reflect the rapidly changing context of polycrises and their impact on HIV programs.
