Contraception for Female Sex Workers: Job Aids and Training Curricula for Peer Educators and Clinicians

December 2020 — The Peer Educator Tool for Informing Female Sex Workers about Contraceptive Options is designed for use by peer educators for the purpose of sharing information about contraception with female sex workers. The tool and session plan, designed to orient peer educators to use the tool, are prototypes that should be modified to suit the program needs, available contraceptive method mix and culture of the location where it will be used. Suggestions about possible tool adaptations are included.

The Contraceptive Services for Female Sex Workers — Training Module for Clinicians is designed to orient clinicians to the special needs and concerns of female sex workers seeking contraceptive services. The module can be used for training family planning providers or providers in family planning/HIV integrated settings (assumes a foundational knowledge of contraceptive methods and skill in offering informed choice counseling, determining medical eligibility for contraceptive methods and providing methods). This prototype module should be modified to reflect the method mix of the country or program.
