Alcançar project webinar series: mParto in Monapo: Using a digital application to monitor women during labor, delivery and referral
October 2022 — The Alcançar project in Mozambique hosted a webinar on October 5, 2022 — the third in a series — to discuss the project’s activities, innovations and results. Technical staff members from the Alcançar project, representatives of Mozambique’s Ministry of Health and project staff members from the U.S. Agency for International Development shared information about the Alcançar project’s work in Nampula Province across the continuum of care, including pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and child health.
The slides from the webinar present the results of the Alcançar project’s partnership with Dimagi to support health care providers in using mParto (“mLabour” in Portuguese), a mobile application adapted for Mozambique. The application supports health care providers in each stage of caring for a woman in labor at a health facility — admission, labor and delivery, immediate postpartum, and discharge — and allows health care providers to quickly identify women who need closer monitoring or referral to a higher-level facility.
