Using data collected in the HPTN 065 study, the authors evaluated the costs and benefits of offering financial incentives to HIV-infected individuals who took their HIV medication and maintained viral suppression. The researchers found that this type of financial incentive has the potential to improve the health of those who have HIV, reduce HIV transmission in the community and save money from a societal perspective.
