This paper adapted the existing methodology of modeling geographic access to incorporate facility characteristics that are known to influence women’s care-seeking choices for emergency obstetric services. The authors applied this methodology to model scenarios for improving emergency access in Mozambique. The models can help decision-makers plan future interventions because they are more accurate estimates on access and the impact that specific improvements may have.
