Under the Sustainable Management of the HIV/AIDS Response and Transition to Technical Assistance (SMART TA) project, FHI 360 is building the capacity of local institutions to implement and take full ownership of evidence-based interventions designed to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS. FHI 360’s technical assistance focuses on integrated prevention, care and treatment for injecting drug users, female sex workers and their clients, and men who have sex with men. The project involves collaboration among the Ministry of Health, provincial health services and local organizations to avert HIV infections, bring lifesaving antiretroviral treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS and support the scale-up of methadone maintenance therapy for injecting drug users. The project also supports the Government of Vietnam and its partners in conducting integrated biological and behavioral surveillance, making national HIV estimates and projections, and conducting HIV research, evaluation and service delivery.
