The Managing Education Information (MEI) project strengthened the ability of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to monitor the quality and efficiency of education provided to refugees in various countries. The FHI 360 effort was designed to accelerate the implementation of UNHCR’s Education Strategy 2012–2016.  Having access to current, vetted education data will help international development programs respond to emerging issues, promote evidence-based policy decisions, streamline country operation reporting and provide an initial system to update information regularly.

MEI generated baseline data for 13 countries: Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and Yemen.  In addition, the project created guidance, tools and teaching materials to share lessons learned and good practices in information management with UNHCR staff and partners.
