Duration
2012 - 2017

This consortium, led by Philippine Business for Social Progress, seeks to improve tuberculosis (TB) case detection and cure rates through a series of interlinked components:

  • Improved integrated services
  • Strengthened demand for health services
  • Improved health policies and systems
  • Scaled-up delivery of high-quality directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS)
  • Timely delivery of appropriate services for multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant TB
  • Increased demand and use of high-quality TB control services
  • Strengthened capacity of national, regional and local health offices to provide technical assistance
  • Improved adoption of and compliance with TB guidelines

As a technical leader in enhancing the quality of laboratories to diagnose and appropriately manage TB, FHI 360 will provide targeted technical assistance and operations research in laboratory strengthening, improvement of diagnostic capacity and identification and appropriate management of regular TB and drug-resistant TB. FHI 360 will also support the program by sharing some proven best practices for reaching laboratory accreditation (for the introduction of new diagnostics) and for achieving accreditation by the International Organization for Standardization.
