The USAID Global Health Supply Chain-Quality Assurance Program (GHSC-QA), implemented by FHI 360 and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), provides comprehensive quality assurance services using a strategic, risk-based approach to ensure that health commodities procured on behalf of USAID are safe, effective and of acceptable quality for clients and patients. The program includes:

Quality assurance

  • Product risk assessments
  • Management of product quality incidents and complaints, such as product recalls
  • Vendor prequalification, including audits and dossier reviews
  • Management of approved supplier and product lists
  • Technical advisory groups

Quality control

  • Product-specific sampling, testing and analysis
  • Management of a laboratory testing network

Technical assistance

  • Technical support and training to partner country governments, USAID implementing partners and other relevant stakeholders
  • In-country capacity building to improve monitoring of products in local markets

Global collaboration

  • Engagement with USAID, Global Health Supply Chain program contractors, and other partners and stakeholders
  • Development of internationally recognized product and test standards
  • Innovations in testing methods and technologies
  • Technical publications and presentations
