Duration

The English for Workforce Development in Pakistan program (English Works!), sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, improves the English language skills of unemployed or under-employed youth ages 17-25, while also enhancing entrepreneurial and technical skills to increase employability. The English Works! program supports the diplomacy goals of the U.S. Mission in Pakistan by strengthening relationships between the people of United States and Pakistan and by improving human capacity, creating a healthier, better educated and more skilled workforce.

Additionally, the program enhances teaching and learning for program teachers, alumni and administrators through U.S.-based professional development exchanges and in-country trainings and workshops. Program activities foster cross-cultural dialogues and exposures to U.S. culture and values and support the sharing of best practices in the field of English teaching and learning. The cumulative result of the English Works! program will be a diverse and empowered group of participants and alumni with an increased potential to shape the course of their own lives and that of their country.
