The Advancing Transition to Peaceful Democracy Through Participation of Civil Society and Media (CSM II) project works to promote the participation of civil society and independent media in strengthening democratic governance, intercommunal harmony and religious freedom, and peace in Myanmar. Our vision is for better-functioning democracy in Myanmar with less conflict between armed groups, greater national reconciliation, more intercommunal harmony and religious freedom, and an increased demand for laws and policies that protect public rights and interests and are effectively implemented.
CSM II works closely with Myanmar’s civil society and media organizations to help them increase high-quality reporting and advocate for a fully inclusive, peaceful democracy.
The project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by FHI 360 and its partners Internews, Public International Law & Policy Group and Voluntary Service Overseas.
CSM II builds on lessons learned from FHI 360’s Civil Society and Media project (CSM I).
